At Home for Now

Mom is at home this weekend and will come back to my home for a day or two this week. But she is almost ready to transition back to her home full time. She is able to do a little more each day! I am still worried about her trying to over do it at home. She has been at her house since Friday afternoon. I ran into her and Dad at Costco on Saturday (were my children mobbed her because she had a motorized cart). They were buying cleaning supplies. Not a good sign that mom will actually be taking it easy. We will see how it goes. I will try to get Mom to post soon.

Doing Well

Mom is doing good. She tried staying at home with Dad last Sunday. It seemed to go ok. She came to stay with us again Monday through Thursday. She is staying at home with dad this weekend. Brenden was supposed to come stay with them for the weekend to help but with Meghann in school he was to busy. Mom got several nice cards this week from the Garrett's and David Hilton. She seems to be doing alright. This week went well mom had a doctors appointment on Monday and got her taxes done. She was approved to start physical therapy and to start wearing a knee sling instead of a knee stabilizer. She has been doing well with the knee sling and will start out patient physical therapy on Wednesday. She has also gone to visit dad every other day. She will probably be back at home full time in a week and a half. I will write an update again soon.

An Outing

On Friday we meet the OT at mom and dad's house so she could see what equipment if any she might need to order to help mom make the transition to her back to her house easier. We are thinking that might happen in a week or so. Depending on what the doctor says and how out patient physical therapy goes. After meeting with the OT (Occupational Therapist) at my parents house we headed out to Phill's Fish Market in Moss Landing to meet mom's class. I have included some pictures from our Outing. I know that mom really enjoyed seeing everyone from her class. She is waving in the back of this shot.

Update 4-7-08

Mom is able to do more each day! She is becoming more and more independent. Although sometimes she is a little to independent. Erik and Dad came and helped me last week so that I could get some things done for work. Mom also helped some with Jake and Nick from bed. THANKS! I was pretty overwhelmed last week as I tried to juggle work and all of my other responsibilities and I will be playing catch up this week. The boys are really enjoying being able to pop in and out of grandma Nita's room and to tell her about there days. We are really enjoying having her in our home. Although my dad misses her terribly and can't wait for her to come home. We are still waiting for a doctors appointment so we can get more feed back about what she is and is not aloud to do. Brenden, Meghann and Ellison came to visit on Saturday. Mom joined us in the living room to watch conference and spend time with the family. We tried to take a picture as they were leaving but Ellie was not very happy at that point. It's still kinda cute though.

Finally Out and About . . . At Least A Little!!!

Well, today I did several things for the first time. . . I experimented with taking a shower independently -- that went okay! Then we went into town so that I could finish up an IEP from just before my accident and find a few other things for some of the other teachers. Unfortunately, several people had cleaned up my desk and computer area so I couldn't find the old files so I had to reprint the old file but I was able to finish the IEP and turn it in. Then we ran a few errands and returned to the house. I guess that my leg was down for a little longer than desired so I had some more swelling but everything went pretty well!! Meaghan and the boys were impressive as she (with the boy's help) coordinated all my different pieces of equipment did the shopping , bullied me into following all the rules, etc. All in all, an exciting day!
Love ya!
